Author · Lecturer · Advisor to Therapists

Painting “speaks” the anguish from which the eating disorder grew, through a pictorial language rich in images, metaphors, colors, and shapes — even before words take shape.

I have spent nearly three decades in art therapy practice, and today I focus on writing, lecturing, and advising therapists — a body of work documented in my book Tears of Gouache, a visual language that reaches places words alone often cannot.

About

Nearly Three Decades in Art Therapy

I hold a BA in Literature and Bible Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MA in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University in Boston. Over nearly three decades I worked in eating-disorder treatment — at the Nofit and Shahaf centers, at the Agam Institute for eating-disorder treatment at Reuth Hospital, and in a private practice focused on adolescents. I am not currently accepting new patients; today I focus on writing, lecturing, and advising fellow therapists.

I have spoken widely at eating-disorder conferences and appeared on television. I presented an exhibition of my patients' paintings, “Tears of Gouache”, at the ZOA Gallery in Tel Aviv (2014), and with the same exhibition opened a Knesset committee session on the subject (2017). I have lectured to art therapists and art-therapy students, clinical psychologists, dietitians, clinical-nutrition students, physicians, and nurses — see the lectures I've given.
